March 3 - 4, 2016 | T. Shevchenko National University of Kyiv | Kyiv, Ukraine

As a continuation of the series of annual French-Ukrainian instrumentation workshops and in the framework of the international laboratory LIA IDEATE, Kyiv National University will host the first French-Ukrainian winter workshop on Medical Physics on March 3-4. Cross-fertilization between particle physics detectors and imaging tools is constantly bringing benefits to the medical field: these are not only related to diagnosis, but also to therapy, as faster and more sensitive detectors can allow for in-vivo monitoring during irradiation. The invited lectures will cover state-of-the-art radiation detector technologies and advanced imaging systems for biological and medical research. This conference is addressed to the wide audience and provides a discussion platform of new developments in related instrumentation and techniques, treatment using particle therapy and radio-guided operative cancer surgery, quantitative models of tumors and possibility of storage and processing of medical data using GRID computing. The CERN expertize in medical physics research will be also presented.
